I have no thought on it except that the economy has gotten so bad it can no longer support brand wars.

Big oil has done this to us, greed has put us all in a recession, who's to say what will survive it. The American auto industry has done this to itself, imports last longer and require less maintenance, not to forget, they have better gas mileage. The early Datsun/Nissan in the 70's got the high 30 MPG, seems in all this time, they should do far better obviously, 30 years is more than enough for improvement.

No they haven't, the speculators and the no drill policy have done this to us. Look up what big oil pays in taxes, and profit margins.

If I was raking in 600 billion in 3 months, I'd expect to pay taxes too, I don't feel a bit sorry for them, they are sending us into a recession.
Obama has everyone looking at his right hand, but what's in his left hand is gonna ruin this country, he's worse than hillary and gore.

If you don't think oil is the big problem here....Wakeup! The big oil companies line the pockets of our goverment with their lobbying. There have been numerous inventions and fuel systems even back in the 70s and 80s that would give a V8 engine 30- 40 mpg with plenty of horse power. The oil companies would buy the patent and destroy it. Ford has cars overseas in germany and other countries that get 50-70mpg. There are countries that pay $5-8 per gallon but they also get awesome fuel economy. You can't tell me that our auto manufacturers here don't know this. They do but they have there hands tied because our goverment and the oil companies won't let them do anything that would effect their profits. Its a greedy world we live in and it keeps getting worse.

I worked with a guy who had a 70 ranchero that had a 5gallon gas can in the bed that ran the truck 500 miles easy. and yet he couldn't get a patent on it.
all he could do is drive it.

About all I saw from the blog was GM and Ford sharing some engineering ideas.   I think the closest you will see to GM and Ford Merging is if DEI (Dale Earnahardt Inc) starts running Yates racing engines. Not like it would matter. All of the sprintcup cars look the same anyways.

What I have heard in the past couple of days is that GM and Chrysler are talking about merging now. Who knows anymore. I also heard a while back that JD Power wrote some kind of article saying that the auto industry was going to collapse next year and disappear to. At this point I don't even care anymore. LOL.

wow this has become the fountain of misinformation. Ford NEVER owned cummins. Just a partial share. And everything that I've come across shows the Dodge trucks still being built.... and possibly badged at Titans.
