I've got my Alpine head unit installed (finally) and the last bit is to install the backup camera.

Putting the cart waaaay before the horse, I purchased this CCD backup camera last year:

Trying to find the best location to mount it in the bumper or somewhere else. Figured I'd ask for the advice here to see if anyone else has installed one of these and where you ended up putting it.

Not the same camera set up, but I have mine mounted right over the center of the rear bumper. Sure makes hooking up the trailer a cinch now.

I've seen someone drill a hole in the middle of their license plate it's hidden and you don't know it's there unless you look for it. Found it it was Gator Crew

that's cool and you really don't notice it at all! I ended up mounting it in the hole for the spare tire lock (which I don't need because I don't have the spare tire there anymore--now that it's lifted)

just had to shave off a little bit of metal, and it fits fine now!

Here's the finished install...

1. Cam in place, but doesn't look finished

2. Picked up this o-ring from the plumbing dept at Home Depot, spray-painted it black:

3. Finished installation:

Nice job. Can't say much for the view though. LMAO. Though I'm sure it's better then if I was standing behind there. I'd break the screen.

redwolfrenn, the problem is that it's keyed for my truck so if you do find one you'll have to re-key it. Have you tried calling Ford parts?

can you run dual cameras?
does the navi screen have a split screen mode so you could put a camer on each side of the back end of the truck?
