You know what half of those tips there if you utilize them you have no business driving a truck. If you lift your truck or have the big wheels on it you generally should not be driving it every day if you want to save fuel.

The biggest tip for saving fuel is get out of the truck and into a 4 banger car.

It is still a good list though. My problem is neither of my trucks have cruise control and the 86 doesn't even have AC. The 97 the AC doesn't work.

Roll with your windows down, saves gas versus the AC

I always do but in that article it said on the highway roll with the AC on. Less resistance I am sure. I'm illustrating that I ain't got a choice in the matter when it comes to the window issue. Well if I find out what's wrong with the 97 I would but since it needs a transmission again the AC is not on my mind at the moment.

actually according to mythbusters you get better gas mileage with the windows rolled up and the a/c on, rather than running with the windows down a/c off. The test was done with 2 exactly identical 04 supercrews at the same speed using cruise control. The one running a/c with windows up got better gas mileage

Not when sitting still in traffic though.

Having the windows up allows the vehicle to be more aerodynamic and there's less pull on the motor at high speed to operate the ac unit

The A/C thing isn't correct, at least with the expy.....i get way better mileage with the windows down, no matter what speed i go.......but here's the real gas saver...... Ethanol free gasoline........back in WI, i was getting around 12/13 mpg, and since moving here to TN, we got a couple of stations here that have ZERO ethanol in their gas and i now get about 15/16 mpgs!!!!!! i am sure if i was to get out on the open highway and lock in the cruise, i could easily get close to 20 now....lol

Damn you Jeff I wish I could find ethanol free gas. They won't let that happen much longer though just like with the Low Sulfer Diesel fuel. It is all a conspiracy to make money.

I see alot of guys run around with their tailgates down or off so I decided to test that theory on my truck. Two important notes on my truck 00 Scab LONGBED, 4.6 w 3.73ls rear. I ran a full tank of gas with tailgate down and only got 15mpg mixed driving never exceeded 2k rpm's, next tank I ran with tailgate up same as above never exceeded 2k rpm's averaged 16.5 mpg. MY last tank I ran with my tonneau cover on and got 17mpg I do however need to get my frontend re-aligned and that could help alittle as well.
