my 01 Screw 5.4 seems to be burning up the #7 cop every 6-8 mo's. I change the plug with it everytime even though they've looked fine. Is there something I should be checking that might be causing this? It's getting quite irritating and it is a p.i.a to keep changing out!

maybe the voltage being delivered to the c.o.p. when the plug should be firing. don't know how you would go about it but it sounds like it's getting too much if it keeps burning out.

Wasn't there word about some engines getting water around one of the plug wells, if yours is doing it, that'll short it out.

well I've been checking and no there hasn't been any water, oil etc around this plug. I used antiseize when installing the plug and the di electric grease for the top of the plug and around lip of the cop boot.

I was driving the truck this morning and it finally set the ses light. Turns out that it's not the #7 causing the prob for once. It's the #3 cop most likely the code issued is p0303 cyl 3 misfire. Later this afternoon when the truck cools off i'll have a look at it.

I pulled out the #3 cop didn't see any damage to the coil or wiring but the boot was brown coloredat the tip where it rests on the spark plug. After pulling the boot of the coil i noticed the tip that screws onto the plug had come out with the boot/connector. Quess I'll go to autozone or parts store of some sort 2morrow and get a new plug and see what happens.

I wish it was under warranty but the truck has 104k on it now so there's no warranty left. Replaced the #3 plug & cop 2day tighted down the #7 coil and it seems to be running alot better. Hopefully that's got everything fixed for now.
