Looking to get a tonneau cover to put on my truck. I have a 05 F150 flareside. Looking for a soft cover that is easy to remove. What brands do you recommend getting and which ones to stay away from? Post some pics if you have them. Thanks for the help.

I have a Truxedo LoPro Tonneau on my '05 Screw. Also had the same cover on my last truck, a '94 F-350 regular cab, long bed.

A very nice cover, seals good and tight. Easy to roll up, the supports are held to the underside of the cover and roll up with the cover. Sides are held down with wide heavy duty velcro which floats in grooves in the side brackets. The top has a self adjusting tensioning mechanism to keep it tight front to back regardless of the weather.

It took less than an hour to install and adjust.

Not a big fan of the snap style covers. The snaps get to be a PITA after a while and it can be difficult to get the cover stretched tight while still being able to get all the snaps snapped.

The only problem with snap covers is when something snaps and you ain't able to use them because they seperated themselves from the cover.

I seen a few like that. There is always a couple that lost that button on top so it is snapped but the cover ain't connected to the snap.

I've seen that happen, too.

They are just a PITA to get on and off. Even if the snaps stay attached to the cover, they get rusty or corroded and the internal spring clips don't move like they are supposed to.

I like the hard panel ones, where you can choose how many panels you want installed. Or the metal rolling ones that roll with a flick of a button....but I opted for a canopy....lots more room....heck my wife can almost stand up in the back of my truck......and the locking gun safe is nice also....and clothes hangers....and layer of insulation....

Canopy or camper? Sounds like a house in there. Those electric rolling metal ones are nice but expensive.

I bought the tallest one I could find. Now I wish I had gone with a company besides leer....I really like the ones with a door in them...and not letting all the heat out every time you open the canopy. Hopefully I'll be buying a camper for the back before too much longer....before the move hopefully....It sure beats sleeping with all your stuff...and eating sandwiches out of a cooler for 3 days.

The 2 reasons I chose the LoPro were: the cross support bars roll up with the cover and the front to back 1" wide velcro on the sides.

Hard tonneaus:

- Gaylords - they invented the hard tonneau cover, and have a great low profile and, what I hear, excellent quality

- Snugtop - super low profile, good build quality. On the spendy side, though.

Soft tonneaus:

- Ford Accessory - I sold a bunch of them. To see the quality, look on the stock 2001-2003 Lightning, its the same one. Plus, they come with a 12/12000 warranty (or the length of your new vehicle warranty, whichever comes last). You can get snap or snapless.

- Truxedo - not a lot of experience with these, but they come highly recommended.

I have a Truxedo TruxSport. It was easy to install and the bows roll up with it. I had one with snaps, I would say stay away from them, especially if you live in a cold weather climate.

I have an Access cover. Soft roll-up kind w/ velcro, absolutely love it. It's got a lifetime warranty, so no worries there.
