Is this a common problem on these trucks?

I have had my truck for 3 years now. Three times since I have owned it one of the caliper mounting brackets has thrown a bolt. Both sides have done it to. Left and right front. Every time it happens it eats the inside of the wheel up because the whole assembly pushes into it. I end up having to drive with the e brake.

It has happened three times and I am curious if this is a known problem or if I just got something weird going on with my truck.

Never heard of this being a problem. Sounds like either someone is not getting them tight enough when doing the brakes or is putting something like anti seize on the thread of the bolts causing them to break free.

Install them dry or a dab of the blue lock tite next time. And i mean a small dab/drop

I install them dry all the time and I crank them down. Wonder if I over tighten them. A bit of Loc Tite actually helped because last time I bought a bolt from a dealer it had that yellow loc tite on it and it ain't moved yet. I wonder if the threads are worn out. I wonder if I can rethread it.

Man I had the same problem last winter. The prior summer (06) I had done my brakes my self with no problems and a few road trips. Then December of 06 I decided I wanted 33s so I got those put on and the next day what you described happened. It sounds awful... I'm convinced discount tire did it.

Well I got 285 75 16 tires which is about a 32 or 33 I think. Also I got these new wheels when I busted the bead on that one of my old ones. These wheels I bought used but they seem smaller and this has happened twice since I have had these wheels and I have only had them a few months.

I think the problem is they are the wheels you have to use the sticky weights on. Those weights suck, never balance right, and fall off and make a hell of a vibration. I bet it is vibrating the bolts loose.

I've got 295 70 17s I think on stock wheels... what you said might be the problem for you. I think mine might have been a fluke... or discount tire wanted to try and kill me...

Who knows man. Only time those bolts have been touched on my truck I have been the one that touched them. I have never had a bolt back out on me ever except for those. I may have overtightened them who knows. I have done that before to. Overtightened and stripped the bolt. Oh well. I'll figure out how to fix it's ass good. I'll rethread the holes if I have to and I will figure it out.

When it goes from a nuisance to pissing me off then more ingenuity then usual comes into play. I won't quit till I fix it.

I don't really care now. Since the tranny took a dump I am parking it and buying a gas sipper. I will work on the truck as funds become available and probably not till spring because my ol Texas body ain't ever going to adjust to this cold weather they get up here. Also I ain't got a garage.

Thanks for the well wishes though. It has to be something to do with vibrations and having the T bars cranked.
